Disney on Ice

Well I am so excited to take Hannah to see her first Disney on Ice show. She still doesn't know, as she is now taking a nap, but will shortly! I just love this age where things are so fun for them because they get it now! Not to say that baby stage wasn't just as fun, just a different kind! Well I will post the pics tomorrow from the show!

The Handyman

Well as most of you know, my husband is not the get your hands dirty, hard labor kind of guy. He'd much rather pay someone to do it or buy it predone! But over the past few years I have gotten some good products out of him! Last year as you know he did the complete sprinkler system and framed for 1000 sq. ft of concrete! Well this project came about thanks to our dear dog Jack. We got him as a sweet innocent puppy and when teething and boredom in the backyard set in, so did his teeth on every imaginable object in our backyard, most of which were Hannah's toys. We thought that by putting things in tubs that would be sufficient, boy were we wrong. Everyday there Hannah's toys would be, all in pieces throughout the yard. Given it was turning to winter and we wouldn't be in the backyard too much, it didn't bother Hannah to much, in fact she was quite mature about it all, and said that it was ok that Jack chewed her toys but that she wanted new ones for her b-day!!!! So now that b-day is approaching and spring is almost here, it's time to have fun again in the backyard and we wanted to prevent this from happening again. Thus came my beautiful project idea!! I just have the vision, never the full plan and details, since what fun would that be! Well my beautiful vision was a 3 day project for Chris.....and I and not a cheap one ither!! But nevertheless it is complete and Hannah loves it! We had to celebrate by getting new toys for it of course so we had fun shopping at Toys R Us and party city last week! It is a huge shed, 8'L 4'W and 4'D to be exact! Check out the pictures!

Remembering our roots

Well as some of you may know, I am a quarter Puerto Rican. So that makes Hannah about an eighth. Well it is still something we have told her she is and she will one day truly understand what that means. But she tells people she is Puerto Rican, so as it happens, her school is having a month where they learn about other cultures and countries, and asked if I would come in and share on Puerto Rico since I am Puerto Rican. I laughed at first, wondering how they knew my background..forgetting Hannah tells people this, and said yes with the understanding that I didn't know much. So in the past week I have had fun looking up things about Puerto Rico since as most of you know, I was not raised with any of the Puerto Rican customs, heck Hannah knows more spanish than I do!!(great thing about having bilingual teachers!) Hannah has had fun looking up things with me and learning that it is an island and what that means, and her favorite part was the neat frog that is a mascot for Puerto Rico.. the Coqui. I shared with her class just a few things like the frog and its beautiful rain forests, which was funny given it was raining outside at the time I shared, and one kid said like here!!! Not quite!! I brought in a real plantain and a banana to compare with the kids and they tried plantain chips, which really just taste like potato chips! It was a fun morning and hit home that we should not forget our roots, I know Hannah learned a little today and one day we will take a family vacation there!!!

Friends in....high places!!

Our good friends and neighbors just opened their restaurant a few minutes from our house. It is a Japanese restaurant with really good food. We have already been twice!! I took a few pics from Friday night, which was the grand opening to the public. Wed. was the family and friends food sampling. Hannah tried Miso soup for the first time and loved tofu!!! Never would of thought!! She had edamame and bacon wrapped tomatoes on a skewer!! It was great food with good friends, what better could you ask for!

Hannah trying to use chopsticks!! She actually got some rice, due to it sticking to them more than anything!

The Art of Pizza Making!

Well after going to Trader Joes for a few things we decided that it would be fun to make a pizza. Hannah loves to make things and this was one we hadn't made yet! So we got our dough from Trader Joes and got the rest of the ingredients from Albertson's. Hannah requested bacon and olives...she is a huge bacon girl lately, every time she gets a cheeseburger from somewhere it has to have bacon!!! We also got some pepperoni, pork sausage and pineapple. It was a lot of fun to make...Hannah would put some on the pizza and then some in her mouth, good thing we bought plenty!!! It was a lot of fun and tasty too!!!

Disappointment

Well the Chargers didn't go very far this year. Another year of getting to the playoffs but coming up short. It was a rough game to watch...for us Charger fans. Phillip Rivers had a good game but it wasn't enough. Well we have next year to hope for. We at least had a good time at a friends house, the same place we went last year for the playoff game. Hannah had fun playing with their little boy Parker as you can see in the picture. You can see the rest of the pics at the picasa site. Well until next year Charger fans!! Let's hope the commercials are good ones this year during the Super Bowl since the game won't be all that enjoyable to watch!

Go Chargers!!!

Well its playoff time once again, and just barely did the Chargers make the playoffs. As you know my husband is a major sports finatic and Chargers are his NFL team. We have had season tickets for what I think is 5 years now! (where has the time gone?) Well Chris sold his season this year and we got a chance to go to the game opener but that was it. Let me tell you, it has been bugging Chris all year to not be getting in the car at 8:00 in the morning on home game days and heading to SD. Well last week when Chargers opened playoff ticket buying Chris of course bought our 2 seats. He debated going or selling since we had saw that some tickets were going for as much as $1,000. So Chris decided to put them up for sale. Well I think it was destined for him to go since when he posted the tickets he had put the wrong phone number(he wondered why no one was calling). One lady emailed him and told him the number was wrong but she wanted the seats. So Chris told her we could meet on Friday since we were going to be down there to go to the WAP. Well the lady backed out. So now Chris is heading down to SD with his friend Mike in about an hour or so for what we hope will be a Charger victory. Hannah and I will be watching from home in our jerseys!! We really hope they go all the way this year, wouldn't that be something!!!! We'll see what the outcome shall be come 8:00 or so tonight! Go Chargers!!!

The joys of living near dairy farms

Ok, living near cow farms has some fun aspects, like Hannah becoming more interested in animals. But mostly they are a pain. We have dealt with the smell for the past year, which you actually get used to surprisingly, but what we saw today was not something you want to see more of. We went our usual route to Babies R Us/Toys R Us which is passed all the cow farms behind us. Well as we passed one farm we noticed another car had stopped next to it and so Chris wanted to see what was going on....thanks honey. Well we witnessed a momma cow giving birth. Hannah luckily didn't see much as her view was a bit obstructed but Chris and I saw more than we needed to, not that human birthing is all that pleasant ither, but I didn't have to watch myself! On our way back we stopped just to see the little guy as we quickly continued on our way the first time. Hannah liked watching the momma clean the baby but what Chris and I found odd was he wasn't moving at all. We will have to make another trip over there in the near future to see if he was alright.
